Welcome to the Aurora Public Schools' Nutrition Services website. The purpose of this website is to provide information to improve communication and cooperation throughout the District as we work to enhance our services.

Nutrition Services supports education by providing nutritious quality meals for children.
Profile
The Nutrition Services Department is responsible for the operation of the school lunch and breakfast programs, serving nutritious meals to District students and adults. The staff also provides catering for meetings, PTO events and employee functions. They operate the summer meal program and offer nutrition education and inservice programs.The Nutrition Services Fund differs from other budget segments of the school district in that it is an Enterprise Fund. An Enterprise is an operation that is run like a private business. Revenues should meet or exceed expenditures.
Self Supporting Department
Nutrition Services is self supporting. We depend on prompt payment from parents for their students' meals to maintain the services we provide to the students.
2009-10 School Lunch Prices
Nutrition Services has recently received approval from the Board of Education and the State of Colorado on a meal price increase for breakfast and lunch. The price increase began at the beginning of the 2008-09 school year. Coming to this decision was not an easy one and something Nutrition Services wanted to avoid if at all possible. As always our goal is to provide quality nutrition to all students and staff and we believe this increase will help us in our endeavors.
Current meal prices are: Elementary breakfast 75 cents, secondary breakfast $1.00, elementary lunch $1.60 and secondary lunch $2.00. Secondary refers to both middle and high schools. Sack milk is $0.65.
The reason for the meal price increase is the dramatic increase in our cost of food. Milk alone has risen 15% in the last year and our department can no longer continue to absorb all the costs. The cost of gas is making everything more expensive for our vendors and in turn more expensive for us.
